Ed Templeton Deformer Art Show In Paris!
Call him what you will--skate hero, role model, living legend--Ed Templeton has long been a true representative voice for today's empowered youth through his art, skateboarding and spirit. The mission continues, as Emerica proudly announces the opening of Ed’s highly-anticipated Deformer exhibition on May 29, to be displayed through July 1 at the Colette concept store in Paris, France.
The show will include a series of 18 select images taken from Ed’s new book, Deformer, which explores his upbringing in suburban Orange County, California, through photographs, stories and writings from his youth and teen years, giving readers an intensely close and personal look at his coming of age.
During the show’s opening, Ed will customize 30 pairs of the Emerica Ridgemont shoe to be sold as a limited-edition at Colette. In addition, Sold Out will sell Ed’s customized Ridgemonts throughout the month of the exhibition.
Titled after a word Ed uses to describe someone’s life experiences, Deformer intertwines photographs, paintings, drawings, sketchbook pages, disciplinary letters from his grandfather and religious notes from his mother. Ed plunges readers headlong into not just his chaotic and sometimes brutal existence, but also his use of art to address its stresses and joys. With over 30 years of material collected and a vision that took 11 years in the making, Deformer captures a raw and unflinching glimpse into Ed’s own life and the lives around him.
