Ray was a great skater. He was kind of late in the scene though. Becoming Pro in '88 the skate scene was at low boom, in 1989 the bowl/old school age was having its last light shimmering, and Ray was too late to let his own shine. Ray Underhill was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and in order for him to pay for his treatments Powell-Peralta made 100 Ray Underhill Chains and Cross decks handsigned by Ray himself in or to pay for his (very expensive) treatments. Altough the 100 deck donations are over you can still pick up the Chains and Cross Re-Issue decks around.
